Top 6 Retirement Living Podcasts: Expert Insights and Tips

Michael Baum, CFP®, RICP®
Vice President & Associate Financial Advisor

Over the past few years, podcasts have gained immense popularity, covering every topic under the sun, from news, to entertainment, to true crime. There’s even a subset of podcasts dedicated to retirees!

Here are six podcasts about living in retirement that you're sure to enjoy.

Squeeze the Day Podcast

The inspirational podcast Squeeze the Day encourages adults over fifty to “squeeze every drop” of fun and purpose out of their retirement years. Each episode features folks from all walks of life who celebrate the wisdom, experience, and enrichment of experiencing a “well-lived life.” Listeners are encouraged to live long, active, and fulfilling lives by exploring new activities, such as educational opportunities, health and wellness, volunteerism, and activism.

The podcast brings on great guests, including Mario Andretti, the famous race car driver who shares his story about his Italian childhood and time in a refugee camp; Dr. David Sabgir, the founder of “Walk With a Doc,” who shares his philosophy of why movement is medicine; and Nashville journalist Brad Schmitt, who talks about his road to recovery. No matter what episode you listen to, you’ll surely learn something about enjoying your retirement years to the fullest.1

The NewRetirement Podcast

Steven Chen is the founder and CEO of the NewRetirement Podcast. It all began when his mother needed to borrow some money. He realized then that his mom desperately needed a long-term financial plan. He went to work with spreadsheets and financial documents to figure out how she could have the comfortable retirement she desired, including the ability to plan and manage her retirement income.2

From this work, he decided to help other seniors make better decisions and gain confidence about their money and retirement. The informative podcasts are hosted by Chen and Davoin Robison, who interview guests about finance and retirement topics. Episodes cover topics like money, purpose, health, meaning, and lifestyle choices. As a retiree, you’re sure to gain insight from well-informed guests who speak on various retirement subjects.
