POMFRET CENTER, CT (April 12, 2022) —  Weiss, Hale & Zahansky Strategic Wealth Advisors (WHZ) has welcomed Vice President, Associate Financial Advisor Michael Baum, CFP® to the firm.

Baum brings nearly 15 years of broad and deep financial industry experience to the firm, having previously served in various roles at Massachusetts-based Commonwealth Financial Network, the country’s largest privately-owned independent Registered Investment Adviser /broker-dealer.

Most recently he served as an Advanced Planning Consultant at Commonwealth, acting as a resource for financial advisors on a wide variety of financial planning strategies. Prior to that he served as supervisor of data integrity at the company. His specialties include charitable giving strategies, tax efficiency, education, and social security planning.

Baum joins an advisory team that includes Zahansky as well as Principal/Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer Laurence Hale, AAMS, CRPS®, and Senior Vice President, Financial Advisor Leisl L. Cording, CFP®. The advisory team in collaboration with team members from client service, portfolio and investment analytics, client experience and financial planning strive to help each client achieve the financial life goals.

Baum holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from the University of Connecticut and a certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University – Metropolitan College. He became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP) professional in 2016, earned the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) designation in 2021, and also holds the FINRA 7 and 66 securities registrations.

Mike is a native of northeast Connecticut, where WHZ is based. When he’s not at work, he enjoys rooting for the University of Connecticut men’s and women’s basketball teams, cooking, and being active outdoors with his wife Chelsea and their twin children.
