How to Gift Others with A Rich Life
Kate Pitts
Associate Vice President, Client Experience & Relationships
The holiday season is so special in part because it offers an opportunity to show our loved ones how much they mean to us through shared celebrations and special gifts. But this shouldn’t be limited to the holidays. At WHZ Strategic Wealth Advisors, we believe true wealth goes far beyond financial assets. Our team and our clients inspire us daily with how they use their resources to enrich the lives of loved ones and give back to their communities. Here are just a few ways that our team and clients have done just that, and how you can, too.
Leading By Example: WHZ's Community Impact in 2024
WHZ's commitment to enriching lives extends beyond client service to active community engagement. Throughout 2024, our team has participated in numerous local initiatives aimed at enriching the lives of the larger community.
We had a blast volunteering and participating in community events such as Putnam's Fire & Ice Festival, the Putnam Lions Club Volleyball Challenge fundraiser, Day Kimball Hospital's Guest Bartender cancer care fundraiser. We also raised more than $6,000 for cancer care and other wellness initiatives through our participation in the Hale YMCA’s Road to Wellness, and we sponsored bibs and volunteered at the QVCC Foundation’s Tackle the Trail fundraising race.
Most recently, during this holiday season we have participated in a food drive for the Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group (TEEG) and volunteered at their Thanksgiving Food Distribution. We’ve also collected toys and volunteered to support the toy drives undertaken by TEEG and the Tolland Human Services.
Financial Empowerment as a Family Legacy
One incredibly valuable gift you can give to your children and grandchildren is to ensure they are educated about money management and how to build wealth. By doing so, you are gifting them with financial literacy that will serve them for life. Consider involving your kids or grandkids in age-appropriate financial discussions and decisions. Teaching them to budget, save, and invest wisely is one of the most valuable gifts you can provide.
One of our clients, Marie, is a mom to three daughters and a busy senior medical director. She has shared with us how working with our team has shaped her approach to finances, and how that knowledge is empowering her to share the importance of financial planning with her daughters as well.
"The overarching financial plan and strategy that WHZ has created for me and my family gives me tremendous peace of mind about the future that I lacked previously,” she said.1
Creating Meaningful Experiences
Think about ways you can use your resources to create lasting memories with family. Perhaps it's an annual vacation tradition, funding educational trips for grandchildren, or hosting family reunions. These shared experiences often become our most treasured "assets."
As one example, our clients Johanne and Ken shared how partnering with our team to secure their retirement has enabled them to focus on what matters most – enjoying life together, the way they envisioned.
"Retirement is a big transition and working with WHZ has made it much, much easier," Ken shared. This financial confidence is now allowing them to invest in experiences that strengthen family bonds, like building their dream home in Vermont where loved ones can gather. 2

Passing Down Values Through Philanthropy
Supporting the causes you care about financially – and sharing about that support with your family members – is an excellent way to instill the importance of giving back and other such values in the next generation. You might also consider "experiential philanthropy" – involving your children or grandchildren in hands-on volunteer work with causes you support. This not only benefits the community but also teaches invaluable lessons about compassion, gratitude, and social responsibility.
Many of our clients at WHZ do just that by working with us to establish a family foundation, donor-advised fund or other charitable giving strategies, and the impact is inspiring to see.
Supporting Loved Ones' Dreams
Consider how you might use your resources to nurture the aspirations of family members or even valued employees. This could mean contributing to a grandchild's college fund, providing seed capital for a relative's business venture, or offering mentorship and networking opportunities.
For our client Joanne, a business owner, maintaining a strategic financial plan has enabled her to not only achieve important goals for her business but also for her family, sharing with us that "WHZ's big-picture approach helped us align and connect all our business and personal financial goals even as they may have changed, which is no small feat.” 3
Create A Financial Strategy Now To Live Well and Give Well Throughout Your Life
At WHZ, our mission is to provide our clients with “Absolute Confidence, Unwavering Partnership, For Life.” Essentially, this means we leverage our Plan Well. Invest Well. Live Well.™ process to help our clients achieve all the big dreams they have for their own lives, and to impact the lives of others.
It’s no small feat for our team and it requires constant vigilance to ensure the plan stays on track. But for us, the results and the experience of sharing such an important partnership with our clients is invaluable. It’s why we do what we do. Because for us, wealth management is about so much more than money.
As we prepare to close out another year of sharing in our clients’ milestones and embark on a new year full of new goals ahead, we are humbled by the incredible impact our clients are having on their loved ones and on the world around them – and we are so proud to be their partner in those efforts.
If you’d like to create a strategic financial plan to benefit your loved ones and community in this way, schedule a complimentary consultation on our website at whzwealth.com or by calling (860) 928-2341.
